Why exactly Lloret de Mar?

Lloret de Mar is a young tourist city in dynamic development, where every year the most important sporting, cultural and recreational events take place. Since the Generalitat of Catalonia chose Lloret de Mar as the cultural capital of the “La Selva” region in 2003, the city has had a large number of new interesting projects. An important distinguishing feature of our place is the developed infrastructure and the constant investments of the City Council in the future development of the city.

In recent years, sport has been one of the key aspects of tourism development. Every year more sporting events are held in Lloret de Mar: marathons, triathlon, bicycle races, soccer and sword hockey matches, international karate championships, swimming, gymnastics, as well as various sports camps. The number of these events is constantly growing, as is the number of their participants.

- In the center of Lloret de Mar is the Church of San Roma, which combines elements of Catalan Gothic and Modernism.
- The Camino de Ronda - these are hiking trails along the Costa Brava. They were previously used by the Civil Guard to control the Spanish maritime border and smuggling. Today they are intended for walks, where everyone can enjoy beautiful views of the coves of the Costa Brava.
- Modernist cemetery, renovated at the end of the 19th century. It is not just a cemetery, it is included in the Route of the Cemeteries of Europe and has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. In addition, it also preserves part of the Indian footprint.
- The Castillo de San Juan is located at the top of a mountain that separates the beaches of Lloret de Mar and the rest area of Fenals. In the 60s they were going to demolish it, but it was decided to protect the castle as an object of cultural interest. So in 1992, the restoration of the fortress was completed, from where breathtaking views open up!
- In our city there is the largest Casino on the coast (Gran Casino Costa Brava).
- Lloret de Mar hosts throughout the year international events, exhibitions, theatrical performances, concerts, carnival processions, conferences and all the different celebrations of local traditions.
- The Gardens of Santa Clotilde, inspired by the gardens of the Italian Renaissance, which sit on a cliff overlooking the sea. ⠀
- Cala Banys and Cuban daiquiri. If you've been wandering the pretty streets and modernist houses for a while, you'll want to take a break. We recommend you visit a beautiful place and have a cocktail. You cannot leave Lloret de Mar without drinking a daiquiri. Because the relationship between Cuba and Lloret de Mar also goes through this drink. Constanty Ribalaigua, another man from our city, docked in Cuba, is known as the king of mycologists. And exactly four years after arriving in Cuba, Mr. Ribalaigua already owned Floridita.
- Doña Marinera, this statue represents a sailor woman looking at the sea. This is a tribute to all the women who for months had not known anything about their sailor husbands.
- Can Font House. It is a jewel in the crown, especially if you like modernity. Or you just want to see how people lived in a 19th century Spanish mansion.
- Parish Church of Sant Roma - Capilla del Santisimo. Remember to look up when you walk in Lloret. Only in this way will you discover one of the greatest jewels of Catalan modernist art: the chapels of the Church of San Romá. The church itself was built in the Gothic style between 1509 and 1522. In 1916, the chapels the Baptistery and the Santísimo were added.
- Maritime Museum - Can Garriga, one of the few indigenous houses that are preserved in Lloret. Can Garriga has a great historical and generic value. Now inside the tourist office and the museum are installed.
- Casa de la Vila - Town Hall, inaugurated in 1872 in neoclassical style, now the building belongs to the Town Hall.

- Good location thanks to the transport service and connection to sports centers. In the near future, the construction of a motorway with an exit to Lloret de Mar should have been completed, which will further simplify access to our town and significantly reduce traffic jams in summer.
- Lloret de Mar is located between the two airports, 90 km from Barcelona "El Prat de Llobregat" airport and 40 km from Girona airport.
- Comfortable bus connections, both with the neighboring towns of Tossa de Mar and Blanes, as well as with Barcelona and Girona.
- Warm and temperate climate, the temperature is pleasant throughout the year, on average there are about 315 sunny days a year. In winter it is sunny and the temperature during the day does not drop below + 14 ° C, in summer it is hot, but the temperature does not exceed +35 ° C (in July and August), the heat is not exhausting and is easily tolerated due to the pleasant climate.
- Magnificent natural environment of the coast. There are many small and cozy coves in the immediate vicinity of the city. These hidden places in the eyes of gran tourism will not leave you indifferent. You can enjoy the crystal clear water, the aroma of the pine forests, the sandy or rocky beaches.
- A large number of offers in the field of services and leisure as well as various sports infrastructures. Currently a congress hall is being built for the realization of tourism forums and exhibitions; a new shopping center opened in the fall of 2019, which has been a success with local residents.
