TOURISM IN THE COSTA BRAVA

Cala Sant Francesc

The Cala Sant Francesc urbanization is considered one of the most privileged in our region. It belongs to the city of Blanes. The price of the villas in this area is high, from about 800,000 euros to 6,000,000 euros. There are four paths that lead to Cala Sant Francesc: one through the urbanization of Santa Cristina and the Pinya de Rosa botanical garden, another through the central hospital of the coast, the third from Blanes passing the Sant Joan castle and the fourth from the port of Blanes.

Few people know it, but at the entrance of Cala Sant Francesc coming from the central hospital is the Center for Advanced Research in Blanes. It is a research center of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), which depends on the Ministry of Economy and competitiveness. The CEAB began its activity in October 1985 and currently focuses its research activity in the areas of Ecology and Biology of organisms from both marine systems and continental waters.

The Cala Sant Francesc urbanization is patrolled 24 hours a day by a private security car. As we said before, this private sector has a very good location: the town of Blanes is 2 km, the town of Lloret de Mar 3 km, supermarkets and the hospital 1 km. Nearby are the Mar y Murtra, Piña Rosa and Santa Clotilde botanical gardens. Gnomo Park children's playground is 800 meters away and Water World water park is 3 km away.

In Cala Sant Francesc, on the road that leads to the port of Blanes, there is another small but very exclusive residential complex with semi-detached houses, which has its own private access to the cove called Sa Forcanera. Access by land is only possible through this residential complex, and the rest of those who wish to can visit this cover only by sea. Due to this isolation, the cove is normally empty, which makes it a pleasant and ideal place to enjoy a moment of total tranquility. Cala Sa Forcanera forms a natural and idyllic corner of the Costa Brava with a paradisiacal and rocky landscape that is one of the best in Blanes. It is located behind the Convent of Blanes, between Playa de Santa Anna and Cala San Francesc, at the foot of the Marimurtra Botanical Garden.

For the exclusive use of the residents of Cala Sant Francesc, there is a fenced car park and a common area with a swimming pool near the beach.

In urbanization there is a fantastic cove, which bears the same name. Cala Sant Francesc beach has an easy descent, is fully equipped, has access for the disabled and a guard post, everything that has allowed it to receive the Blue Flag badge. On the beach there is a restaurant called Cala Bona, which offers full breakfasts, daily menu and dinners by the sea. In the menu you can choose between different dishes of meat, fish, seafood, sandwiches or simply coffee and toast.

In the upper part we will find the Hermitage of Sant Francesc, where an inscription from the year 1683 is still preserved and where every July 28 has been celebrated since 1906 "l’ Aplec de l'Amor'',culmination of the festival of Blanes. Before the Civil War, it was a meeting place for young people who, with the excuse of going to have a picnic at the top, had the opportunity to meet new loves. Today there are many who recover that custom. Cala Sant Francesc is 220 meters long and 35 meters wide, covered with fine golden sand, sheltered from the north winds, which make it a splendid place to enjoy sea bathing and spend a quiet and isolated day on the Mediterranean coast!
